How often should I be sending emails to my subscriber list?
|
This is a question I get asked regularly – so chances are, it could be one you ponder too.
The answer is 2.3 emails per week – unless it’s a leap year. 🤥
I’m jesting, of course – there is no numerical answer that works across the board.
Here’s how I recommend you figure out how often to send emails to your list;
- Start with one regular email that focuses on core content, and send it consistently – no exceptions! (e.g. once per week, on the same day)
- Once you get comfortable with that first email, consider what other content you could share – AND that your subscribers want! (If you come up with something here, schedule that into your calendar too.)
- PRODUCTIVITY TIP Consider what ‘evergreen‘ content you could create that subscribers could self-select and have drip-fed to them at regular intervals (e.g. a 6-week sequence that sends one email per week, explaining a niche topic in depth).
A blend of ‘dynamic‘ content (i.e. ‘of the moment’ – you create the content around the time you’re going to send it) and ‘evergreen‘ content (i.e. content that doesn’t become outdated and can be reused repeatedly for many subscribers) works beautifully, especially when you involve your subscribers – meaning they get what they want, on their terms.
If you want to go deeper into this topic, check out this video (< 9 mins) I created that will guide you through the process;

Kit Feature
PRODUCTIVITY TIP
Save yourself time with ‘Snippets’
Ever find yourself copying a chunk of text from one email and pasting it into another one?
Yeah, me too.
Until I discovered ‘Snippets‘ in Kit.
Snippets are reusable pieces of content that can be inserted into emails repeatedly without having to copy and paste.
They help you maintain consistency while saving time. Instead of manually adding commonly used text in multiple emails, you can create Snippets and insert them as needed.
The two types of ‘Snippets’
- Block Snippets – These are standalone sections of content that can be inserted anywhere in an email. They are useful for elements like email signatures, frequently referenced links, lead magnet promotions, or article references.
- Inline Snippets – These are embedded within a sentence or paragraph and can include personalised or conditional content based on subscriber data. Inline Snippets allow dynamic content adaptation depending on each subscriber’s profile information.
To make this point more meta, this snippet of content you’re reading now is a ‘Snippet’ – everything you can see inside the section with the thin red border, I created using a block Snippet.
Below, you can see two other examples from my library of content ‘Snippets’, one ‘block’ snippet and one ‘inline’ snippet.
|
|
👈 Example of a ‘block’ snippet
My email footer is just a block snippet that I can insert into any email template.
|
|
|
👈 Example of an ‘inline’ snippet
I can check to see if a subscriber has a certain ‘tag’ and display different text for each condition.
|
Now that I’ve created this ‘Snippet’, anytime I want to explain what ‘Snippets’ are in any future email, I can simply insert this snippet into it with one click!

Blitzit – a task manager app
PRODUCTIVITY TIP
I don’t know about you, but when it comes to working through a list of my actions, I get a little release of dopamine with every checkbox I tick!
As someone who is motivated by progress, there’s nothing I love more than creating a list of tasks (and sub-tasks!) that I can then work my way through until completion.
There are a gazillion task manager apps out there (most of which I reckon I’ve used over the years!), however, this one (i.e. Blitzit) has a great little feature I love.
It’s called ‘Focus Mode’.
Essentially, it allows you to remove all distractions from your screen, have a little countdown timer in the corner of the window, meaning you can just get stuck into the job in hand, and always have a little tracker there whenever you need it.
(Side note: I create little competitions for myself – trying to get tasks done before the alarm sounds!)
The app is available for both Mac and Windows and has a whole bunch of other features, but this is the one that swung it for me!
If you’re interested in trying it, you can grab a free 7-day trial using the button below.
If you decide you want to buy it, the price is $4.99/m. There is also a lifetime purchase price of $77, meaning you never pay anything again.
I am not affiliated with this product, I just love using it in my business – plus, I find it actually works, making me more productive! (writing this email is my current ‘focus mode‘ task! 🙂).
